Stop motion (frame-by-frame) animation is an animation technique which makes a stationary object appear to move. The object is moved by very small amounts between a series of individual still photographs giving the illusion of movement when they are played as a continuous sequence. Clay figures are often used in stop motion animations, known as claymation, but you can just as easily use real people or actors to pose for your film. There are a number of model figures in toy stores which have magnetic joints, as well as the old favourite Lego and both can also be used as actors in your animation project.
